Box Score EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Women's Basketball started fast and never looked back, taking an emphatic 97-38 decision over Centenary College JV on Monday at the HPRE Center. The Bengals' (5-4) 59-point win was the program's largest margin of victory since a 67-point blowout of Lone Star-Cy Fair on January 20, 2018.
LSUE pushed out comfortably ahead early in the first quarter, using a 19-2 run to take a 21-4 lead. The Bengals expanded their lead with a 33-point second quarter to go up 54-16 at the break.
Izabella Henry (Hornbeck, LA, Anacoco HS) paced the LSUE offense in the first half, scoring 14 of her season-high 22 points before the break.
Simone Clay (Bloomington, MN, Bloomington Jefferson HS) worked in tandem with Henry, adding 13 at halftime, also scoring 22 points on the night.
Clay connected on five trifectas during the evening as LSUE drained nine shots from downtown.
Six different players scored in double figures as LSU Eunice was able to get the entire roster involved in the runaway win.
Ilke Zorlukaya (Istanbul, Turkey, Bayrampasa Okyanus HS) (12 points),
Trinity Thomas (Walker, LA, Walker HS) (12 points),
Ray'Onna Sterling (Vacherie, LA, Walker HS) (11 points) and
Mariah Heard (Bastrop, LA, Bastrop HS) (10 points) each posted double digit figures for the night.
LSU Eunice takes the rest of Thanksgiving week off before returning to the court next Monday to continue its six-game homestand. The Bengals welcome Southwest Mississippi CC to town for a 6:00PM tip-off on December 2.
