EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Women's Basketball used its "small ball" lineup to perfection, taking down Baton Rouge CC 80-67 on Wednesday at the HPRE Center.  The Bengals (4-19, 3-0 LCCAC) finished the first of three rounds of play in LCCAC action as the only unbeaten team.
 
The LSUE starting trio of guards – Mary Leday (Opelousas, LA, Northwest HS), Kaylan Jack (Baton Rouge, LA, Madison Prep Academy) and Destiny Brown (Hattiesburg, MS, East Marion HS) – totaled 54 points to help pushed past the Bears.
 
The Bengals found themselves down early 5-3 before going ahead for good.  Destiny Brown triggered the early surge with a trio of three pointers as LSUE took a 21-11 lead after the first quarter.  LSUE built its lead to 20, 38-18, before a late BRCC run cut the Bengals' lead down to 42-33 at half.
 
Mary Leday led the LSUE charge in the first half, scoring 12 of her team-high 22 points before the break.  Leday added four rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block to her big stat line.
 
After averaging 28 points in the first two LCCAC contest, Kaylan Jack picked up in the second half.  Jack scored 11 of her 17 points after half, including going 9-for-14 from the free throw line.  She produced a team-high six assists as 21 of LSUE's 28 field goals were assisted.
 
Tierra Sylvas (Pearl River, LA, Northshore HS) once again served as a do-it-all player in the paint, scoring seven points and snagging a team-high six rebounds while dishing out three assists.
 
The Bengals would once again to 20 points in the fourth quarter before putting on the brakes later in the game.   
 
LSU Eunice hits the road over the next week for a pair of games starting Saturday at Southern-Shreveport, before heading to Baton Rouge next Wednesday for a date with the Bears.
