EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice continued to shine on the field of play and in the classroom as 27 student-athletes received All-Academic Team honors by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), the organization announced on Thursday. Four of the five athletic teams on campus had honorees on the team.
This marks the fifth straight academic year that LSU Eunice has placed at least 23 student-athletes on the prestigious list.
"I am always so impressed with how important it is to our student-athletes to strive for excellence in everything they do," LSU Eunice Athletic Director Jeff Willis said. "This is another tremendous example their commitment to success, and it would not be possible with the encouragement and support of our outstanding staff and faculty on campus."
Men's Soccer placed a program-record nine members on the NJCAA All-Academic team including three first-team members in Aarush Kamath, Avaneesh Kamath and Siddiq Lezzar. Other members from men's soccer included Benjamin Alimasi, Kei Nagakura, Julian Pasqualino, TaiBi Diakite, Peyton Foreman and Ryan Jeanfreau.
Baseball received a department-high ten nominations to the squad with first-team members Parker Morgan and Aiden Mouton highlighting the list. They are rounded out with Crawford Courville, Tyson LeBlanc, Andrew Lee, Blake Lobell, Carson Carey, Bennett Clement and Weston Fulk.
Softball and Women's Soccer each had four recipients. Softball's members include Katie Salling, Sara Roussel, Hadley Lemons and Kate Rills. Women's Soccer's Anais Coyne, Caroline Felding, Kendall Guidroz, and Ashley Manning rounds out the LSUE contingency on the NJCAA All-Academic Team.
Overall, a total of 12,245 student-athletes from across the NJCAA were named to the All-Academic Teams. Student-athletes are eligible for All-Academic honors after achieving a grade point average higher than 3.60 during the 2023-2024 academic year. The criteria for the three All-Academic teams are listed as below:
NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA
In addition to individual honors, the baseball, softball, and men's soccer teams were named Academic All-American Teams of the Year for holding a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or better. Baseball scored a program record 3.36 GPA, while softball held a 3.22 GPA and men's soccer had a 3.01.
The LSUE athletic department in its entirety posted a 3.09 GPA.
