EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice landed program highs in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Academic Teams of the Year and All-Academic Teams after historic performances in the classroom for the 2025-26 academic year, the organization announced on Wednesday. The Bengals saw all five teams earn Academic Team of the Year distinction for the first time ever, while producing a record 64 student-athletes on the All-Academic Team.
The 64 student-athletes honored by the NJCAA surpasses last year's mark of 58, which set a new standard at the time.
"The entire LSU Eunice community prides itself on striving for excellence in everything and this is a byproduct of that hard work and dedication," LSU Eunice athletic director Jeff Willis said. "Our student-athletes are privileged to get outstanding support and guidance from our coaches, faculty and staff who always go above and beyond for all of our LSUE students."
The baseball team had a department-high 26 student-athletes on the All-Academic team including eight first-team members. Women's Soccer had a program high 15 honorees, while softball added 11. Men's Soccer and Women's Basketball each had six representatives.
Department wide, LSU Eunice had 15 student-athletes receive first-team designation after posting a 4.0 grade-point average during the academic year.
To receive Academic Team of the Year honors, the team cumulative grade-point average must be better than 3.0. Baseball led the department with a program-record 3.52 GPA, while Softball (3.50), Women's Soccer (3.49), Women's Basketball (3.22), and Men's Soccer (3.04) also earned recognition.
The NJCAA had 13,723 student athletes honored for achieving a grade point average higher than 3.60 during the 2025-26 academic year. The criteria for the three All-Academic teams are listed below:
NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA
