EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Baseball has been slotted as the number nine preseason team in the NJCAA Division I Baseball Preseason Poll, released this week by the National Junior College Athletic Association.  LSUE enters its first year as a Division I team after capturing eight National Championships in Division II, including last season.

The Bengals are the highest ranked team in Region 23 and its district, joined by Region 23 opponent Delgado Community College (25th) and South District member Shelton State (13th).

LSUE opens the regular season this weekend with three games set for the Tony Robichaux Sports Complex in Crowley.  The Bengals tangle with Arkansas State University-Mountain Home on Friday, January 24 at 7:00PM from Miller Stadium.   LSUE plays Dallas College North Lake on Saturday at 12:00PM on Fezzo's Field, followed by a Sunday finale at 1:00PM against ASU-Mountain Home at Miller Stadium.

The first three weekends of the season will be played in Crowley as construction is still underway on the newly renovated Bengal Stadium.

The Bengals welcome back three everyday starters from the National Championship team including Defensive Player of the Tournament and All-Tournament team member, Alex Dupuy.  Tyson LeBlanc is back after leading LSUE with 67 RBIs and 20 doubles a season ago.  Ashton Fuselier is the other returning offensive player for the Bengals.

The pitching staff will be led by Alec Beversdorf after going 7-2 with a team-best 1.84 earned run average during the 2024 season.
