EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Women's Basketball had fans on the edge of their seats all night, going toe-to-toe with Panola College on Wednesday at the HPRE Center.  After trading blows all evening, the Phillies won the last round of this fight, pulling ahead late for an 85-74 win over the Bengals (11-5).
 
A contest that featured five ties and ten lead changes, Kamiera McDonald (Baton Rouge, LA, Scotlandville HS) would score a bucket to begin the fourth quarter and give the Bengals a five-point lead.   The Phillies would go off to the race at the point, striking for a 15-0 run that put the game away for good.
 
McDonald shined bright for the Bengals, scoring a team-high 21 points, her second 20-plus point game in a week.  The sophomore was one of three Bengals to record double digit points, joined by Paulina Reichenauer (Waiblingen, Germany, Salier Gymnasium) and Saidastiny Stewart (Baton Rouge, LA, Dulles HS (TX)).  Reesie Jinks (Grant, LA, Fairview HS) added nine points off the bench.
 
LSUE overcame some early adversity, finding itself in an 11-point hole, 38-27, midway through the second quarter.  The Bengals would get hot to close the half, using a 14-2 run to tie the game at 41-41.  LSUE would convert at the free throw line in the closing minutes of the second quarter to hold a 48-46 edge into the halftime break.
 
The Bengals would lead throughout the third quarter, before Panola mounted its fourth quarter surge.
 
LSU Eunice plays its final game of the fall semester on Friday against Wiley University.  Tip-off from the HPRE Center is set for 5:00PM.
