Box Score EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Women's Basketball used big three pointers and a solid night at the free throw stripe to take a 73-59 decision over Copiah-Lincoln CC on Thursday at the HPRE Center. The Bengals (11-3) evened up the season series against the Wolfpack with the win.
After Copiah-Lincoln scored the first basket of the game, the Bengals took the lead off a
Paulina Reichenauer (Waiblingen, Germany, Salier Gymnasium) three-pointer and never looked back. Reichenauer scored seven of her 10 points in the first quarter, helped by a pair of
Kamiera McDonald (Baton Rouge, LA, Scotlandville HS) trifectas in the frame to push the Bengals' lead to double digits.
McDonald would connect on four three-point baskets in the half, giving LSUE a commanding 40-24 lead at intermission.
The Bengals weren't in the clear just yet as the Wolfpack would get within four points in the third quarter before McDonald would take over the game from the free throw line. The sophomore was a perfect 11-for-11 from the charity stripe after half, part of an impressive 16-for-17 showing from the line for the Bengals.
Her team-high 25 points are the most in a single game by a Bengal this season.
LSUE would convert 10 three-point baskets in the game, two big back-to-back trifectas come from
Edurne Diaz de la Serna Munoz (Ripollet, Spain, Institut Palau Ausit) in the fourth quarter to put the Bengals ahead for good. Diaz poured in 15 points in the winning cause.
