Box Score LUFKIN, TX -- The Lady Bengals faced a stifling Angelina College defense in their 49-93 loss here Tuesday night. Angelina held the Lady Bengals to just 16 points in the second half and cruised to their 5th win of the season, while LSU Eunice fell to 1-4 on the year.
The Lady Runners (5-1) dominated the first period of play, outscoring LSUE 37-15. While the Lady Bengals did better in the second period, holding Angelina to only 15 points, it was the second half of play that did in LSUE.
Angelina held LSUE to only eight points in each of the second half's periods, allowing only five 2-point baskets in the two periods.
Rylie James of Basile, who has been leading the Lady Bengals in scoring with 14.5 points a game was held to just five points -- all free throws.
Jaleya Gold, who is averaging 13 points a game, scored 16 points, and
Gabrielle Harrington added seven points.
Swaranga Fernando scored six points.
The Lady Bengals return home Saturday at 6 p.m. against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
