Meridian Edges LSUE in Final Minute

Box Score

DECATUR, MS - LSU Eunice's comeback fell short here Tuesday in the East Central Classic against Meridian College.  The Lady Bengals (2-6) saw their one point lead slip away as Meridian hit four of six free throws in the closing seconds to win 60-58.

Destini Hall's three-point basket with less than a minute left in the contest with Meridian (3-2) would have given the Lady Bengals their third win of the season.  But seconds after Hall (Clear Creek HS) nailed the three-pointer, Gabriele Harrington fouled sending Meridian to the free throw line.  Meridian would score 16 points in the final period, ten from free throws and four of those gave Meridian back the lead and the win.

LSUE missed six baskets in the final seconds that would have given them back the lead.  The Lady Bengals shot only 29 percent from the floor and out rebounded Meridian 56-40.

Hall finished the night with 14 points and dominated the boards with 12 rebounds.

Rylie James (Basile HS) finished with 16 points, and Gabrielle Harrington (Erath HS) had ten points.  Jaleya Gold (Bolton HS) had seven points.

LSUE will look to redeem two close losses to Coastal Bend College at home Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
