Box Score HOUSTON – The LSU Eunice Lady Bengal basketball team struggled against Blinn College in the San Jac Classic here Saturday. LSUE fell 54-90 and are now 0-2 on the season after ending the Classic with the loss to Blinn who are ranked 14th in the nation in the NCJAA Division I preseason poll.
Blinn (2-1) dominated the first period of play allowing the Lady Bengals only seven points. By halftime, Blinn held a 43-22 lead. The Lady Bengals played stronger in the second half, but were still out scored by Binn in the third and fourth periods.
Former Basile standout,
Rylie James lead the Lady Bengals in scoring for the second straight game. She finished the night with 23 points and was 9-for-9 from the free throw line.
Jaleya Gold had 11 points and 7 rebounds.
Becca Brooks,
Gabrielle Harrington and
Destini Hall added five point each. Brooks, who was second in the nation last year in three-point baskets was held to just one 3-pointer in the game.
The Lady Bengals shot only 23 percent from the floor but hit over 90 percent of their free throws.
LSU Eunice return to Texas next week to play Coastal Bend College (1-1) again. On Friday, LSUE fell to the Lady Cougars 66-73 in game one of the San Jac Classic. The Lady Bengals will play their first home game on November 12 at 5 p.m. against Bossier Parish Community College (1-0).
