Box Score PINEVILLE, LA -- Former Basile standout,
Rylie James, scored a career-high 40 points in LSU Eunice's win over Louisiana College here Tuesday. The 82-69 win over Louisiana was the Lady Bengals second win in a row. They edged out Arkansas Baptist 80-76 earlier in the week.
James' 40 points come just a few weeks after she scored 35 points against Mississippi Gulf Coast and 30 against Patrick Henry. She is currently 12th in the nation in points per game (19.4) and 10th in the country in total points with 350. She is now ranked third in the LSUE Eunice record books for most points in a game. Renotta Edwards holds the school record with 43 points against Panola in 2007 and 42 against Panola in 2006.
LSUE (6-12) jumped out to a 13-point lead gainst the Lady Wildcats early in the first period, but Louisiana College took the lead in the second, outscoring the Lady Bengals 17-14.
The Lady Bengal dominated the third period and opened up a 61-49 lead and held on to win 82-69.
Becca Brooks (Sulphur HS) and
Jaleya Gold (Bolton HS) each finished with 12-points. Brooks had four three-pointers and Gold scored five baskets and a pair of free throws.
Nicole Kraut (Midland High School) finished the game with 11 rebounds and
Jazmyn Menina (Mandeville HS) and Gold each had eight rebounds.
In the earlier game with Arkansas Baptist, James' 20 points help LSUE pick up with fifth win of the season. Memina's free throw late in the fourth quarter sealed the win for LSUE.
Two other players also added ten or more points for the Lady Bengals.
Gabrielle Harrington (Erath HS) added 18 points, and Gold scored 17 points. Also helping the effort for LSUE were
Sydney Hayden (Holden HS) (8 points), Brooks (7 points), Memina (6 points).
