Box Score EUNICE - A strong comeback attempt by the LSU Eunice fell at the end of the third period, and the Lady Bengals fell to Panola 92-65 here Saturday.
The Lady Bengals scored first and dominated the first few minutes of play, but after a timeout by Panola, the Fillies took the lead and never trailed again. At the end of the first period, Panola had a 22-16 lead.
A 21-point second period and a string of turnovers by LSUE helped Panola pull out to a 43-28 halftime lead.
The girls had a strong showing at the start of the third period and had pulled to within five points of the lead at the 4:35 mark in the third. Panola used a quick series of points at the end of the period, including a three-pointer to pull back out to a comfortable lead.
Panola then outscored LSUE 26-14 in the final period to pick up the win and improve to 12-5 on the season. LSUE falls to 4-11.
Rylie James (Basile HS) scored 24 points, and
Jaleya Gold (Bolton HS) had 17 points and nine rebounds.
Sydney Hayden (Holden HS) came off the bench to score ten points.
LSU Eunice will travel to Mississippi Gulf Coast next week and have four games left (Miss. Gulf Coast, LSUA, La College, Arkansas Baptist) before starting Miss-Lou Conference play.
