Box Score HOUSTON, Tx. – A week after suffering through a cold quarter against San Jacinto, it was another quarter-long dry spell that handed LSU Eunice an 87-53 setback again to the Gators. It was the Bengals' first road game of the season.
LSUE trailed only 36-33 at the break but a disastrous third quarter put the Gators up for good. The Bengals were outscored 27-4 in that span to stretch San Jacinto's lead to 26 points. Alexus Jones led the way for San Jacinto with a game-high 20 points, 15 coming after intermission.
Princess Clemons chipped in 19 points, 10 in that decisive third quarter.
LSU Eunice was led offensively by
Rylie James' (Basile HS) 16 points. The Basile native surpassed Amanda Romero and Candace Lacombe for 5
th all-time in scoring in program history. James currently has 624 career points.
Bethany Broussard (Iowa HS) (8 points),
Arianna Dargin (Iowa HS) (7 points) and
Gabrielle Harrington (Erath HS) (7 points) also led the LSUE scoring effort.
LSU Eunice returns home Thursday to start a season's best six game homestand. The stretch begins with Pearl River Community College, the first of 13 games against Region 23 opponents. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00PM inside the HPRE Center.
