Box Score EUNICE, La. - An early 14-2 run headlined by a stingy defensive effort helped paved the way to an easy win for LSU Eunice over Louisiana College JV, 83-54. It's the Bengals (11-2) eighth straight win and ties for the most victories in a single-season under head coach Amanda Clemons.
LSUE roared out to a fast start, taking a 7-0 lead off of three consecutive Wildcat turnovers.
Rylie James (Basile HS) scored five of her game-high 18 points in that span. The Bengals extended that lead to 14-2 thanks to six LC turnovers and held a 17-7 edge after the first quarter.
The lead hovered in the mid-teens throughout the second quarter, taking a 37-20 score into the break and stayed the same throughout the third quarter. A late 14-3 run helped push the Bengals advantage to 26 points.
LSUE enjoyed another proficient night on the floor, shooting 35-of-69 (50.7%) in field goals and 10-of-16 (62.5%) at the free throw line.
The wire-to-wire victory was helped by
Arianna Dargin (Iowa HS) and
Jaleya Gold (Bolton HS) both tallying double-digit points, 14 and 10 respectively.
The Bengals will make a return trip to Pineville, La. on December 29 to take on Louisiana College. The game ties a season-long three-game road trip for LSUE.
