Box Score EUNICE -- The Miss-Lou Conference looks completely different than it did a week ago after wins by LSU Eunice and Delgado over the first place teams. The Lady Bengals defeated Southern-Shreveport here Wednesday 78-54, and Delgado upset Baton Rouge 57-52.  Now all four teams are 1-1 in conference play.
LSUE took care of business Wednesday night to stay viable in the Miss-Lou Conference championship race.  Bolstered by Rylie James' 35 points, the Lady Bengals trailed only once in the game.  That was early in the first period when Shreveport (5-8) hit back to back baskets to move out in front 6-5.  But Sydney Hayden's two point layup gave the LSUE back the lead, and the girls never trailed again.
LSUE out scored Southern 39-23 in the first half and had no problem shooting, sinking 41 percent of their baskets.  The girls stayed out in front in the second half and grew their lead to 24.
James (Basile HS) finished the night with an impressive 35 points.  It was the fourth time this season she scored 30 or more points.  She is tenth in the country in point per game with a 19.5 average.
Becca Brooks (Sulphur HS) continued to add to her record-breaking season.  She scored 13 points, including four three-point baskets.  Brooks is LSUE' all-time three-point basket leader.
Hayden (Holden HS) scored eight points
Gabrielle Harrington (Erath HS) finished with seven points, and
Jaleya Gold (Bolton HS) had 6 points.
Jazmyn Menina (Mandeville HS) lead the team in rebounds with seven.
Swaranga Fernando (Tyler Junior College) and Gold each had five rebounds.
The Lady Bengals will face off with Delgado (3-12) Saturday night at 6 p.m.
