Lady Bengals Fall to Southern-Shreve

Box Score

SHREVEPORT -- The lead in the LSU Eunice - Southern-Shreveport basketball game here Saturday changed hands nine times before Shreveport took control and walked away with a key 71-55 Miss-Lou conference win.

The Lady Bengals were a pesky thorn in Shreveport's side.  Just win the Lady Jags looked like they had driven the final nail in the coffin, LSUE's girls would fight back and retake the lead.

It wasn't until late in midway through the third period that Shreveport took control of the game. After holding LSUE to just nine points in the third period, the Lady Jags took a 48-36 lead going into the final period.

LSUE would be outscored 23-19 in the final period, and LSUE falls to 2-3 the in Miss-Lou Conference.

Baton Rouge and Shreveport won today giving them the conference lead.  And LSUE and Delgado's losses drop them to the bottom of the conference. There are just four conference games left.  LSUE will face Baton Rouge again on February 18.  They have not beaten the Lady Bears this season and will have play Shreveport again and two games with Delgado.

In tonight's game, Becca Brooks (Sulphur HS) continued her record-breaking season, adding five more three-pointers to her totals.  She finished with nine points.

Rylie James (Basile HS) had 19 points, and Jaleya Gold (Bolton HS) scored 10 and had three blocked shots.
