Box Score EUNICE -- Southern-Shreveport defeated LSU Eunice 75-65 here Wednesday night and eliminated them from the MissLou Conference Title race.
LSUE had an outside chance of winning the conference title. They needed to win their remaining two conference games and hope for Delgado to upset Baton Rouge Community College. Neither of those happened yesterday. The Lady Bengals lost, and Baton Rouge knocked off Delgado 48-46.
Despite Southern-Shreveport opening the game 15-2 run in the opening period, LSUE fought back to trail by only two points at the start of the second period. It was then that the Lady Bengals defense went anemic. LSUE scored only seven points in the period, and the Lady Jags opened up a 42-28 halftime lead.
LSUE mounted a comeback in the final period, and in spite of Rylie Jame's 13 points in the fourth period, LSUE fell short.
James, Rylie (Basile HS) finished with 29 points and seven rebounds.
Gabrielle Harrington (Erath HS) and
Becca Brooks (Sulphur HS) each had multiple three-pointers. Harrington scored 12 points, and Brooks had 10 points.
Sydney Hayden (Holden HS) had eight rebounds, and J
Jazmyn Menina (Mandeville HS) came down with six. Hayden also had two blocked shots.
LSUE falls to 10-17 on the season and 3-5 in conference play.
