Box Score EUNICE -- Jaleya Gold had a career-high 23 points to help LSU Eunice to an 81-56 victory over Delgado (3-13) here Saturday. The win also pushed the Lady Bengals into first place in the Miss-Lou conference.
Both LSUE and Southern-Shreveport (6-9) have one loss in the conference, but the Lady Bengals beat Shreveport earlier this week. Delgado and Baton Rouge (5-18) each now have two losses after LSUE beat Delgado and Baton Rouge fell to Shreveport 66-37 tonight.
The Lady Bengals grabbed the lead against Delgado on a three-pointer from Becca Brooks in the second period and never trailed again. The girls pulled ahead early on the strength of a 12-3 run, eventually claiming a 41-38 lead at halftime.
LSUE dominated the second half holding Delgado to 18 points while scoring 40.
Gold (Bolton HS) led LSUE's offense, going 9-for-15 and coming down with 18 rebounds.
Rylie James (Basile HS) scored 20 points, and
Brooks (Sulphur HS) continued her record-breaking season with five 3-point baskets. She finished with 15 points.
Sydney Hayden (Holden HS) was also in double digits, scoring 10 points for LSUE.
Gabrielle Harrington (Erath HS) had six points, while
Nicole Kraut (Midland High School) scored 4 points, and
Breanna Doucet (Sam Houston HS) sank a three-point basket at the end of the game.
LSUE is now 9-13 and will get to revenge their 50-82 loss to Baton Rouge Community College here Wednesday night.
