Box Score EUNICE -- Baton Rouge Community College knocked off the LSU Eunice Lady Bengals here Wednesday 58-44 and created a 4-way tie in the Miss-Lou conference.
LSUE and Southern-Shreveport each entered their games tonight with 1 loss in the conference. But Delgado upset Shreveport 63-56, and Baton Rouge came from behind to hand the Lady Bengals their second loss.
Turnovers and poor rebounding plagued the Lady Bengals most of the game, but despite the troubles, LSUE went into the locker room with a 31-29 lead.
The Lady Bears out rebounded LSUE 65-45.
Sydney Hayden (Holden HS) and
Rylie James (Basile HS) led the Lady Bengals in rebounds. Hayden had 11 and James had 10.
Midway through the third period, Baton Rouge took a five-point lead, but the LSUE fought back and retook the lead for much of the second half. But at the 6-minute mark in the fourth quarter, The Lady Bears moved out in front for good. LSU Eunice struggled to score, being out shot 22-6 in the final period.
James and Hayden each finished with a double-double. James with 10 rebounds and 13 points. Hayden had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Others adding points for the Lady Bengals tonight were
Gabrielle Harrington (Erath HS) with 7 points, and
Becca Brooks (Sulphur HS) had 6 points from multiple three-pointers.
Jaleya Gold (Bolton HS) had 6 points, and 3 blocks and
Aaliyah Austin (Eastern Oklahoma State College) scored 2 points.
LSUE falls to 9-14 on the season.
