EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice responded from an early hole to blow past LSU Alexandria JV, 15-4. The Bengals plated 15 unanswered runs to score their 16th mercy rule victory of the season.
The Generals took advantage of two hits, two walks, an error and wild pitch to score four runs in the second inning. That chased Bengal starter Noah Beason after 1.2 innings, giving up four runs off three hits and two walks.
LSU Eunice responded with five runs in the bottom half of the second inning highlighted by Chance Clark's two run single. Micah McHugh and Koi Westbrook also drove in runs in the go-ahead frame.
Dane Dixon (2-1) silenced the LSU Alexandria bats in 3.1 scoreless innings, scattering four hits while striking out three batters. Hunter Joubert and Nathan Holmes each threw an inning, combining for one hit and one strikeout.
After Mason Templet doubled and Micah McHugh walked then each stole a base to sit at second and third, Jacob Richard provided a lift for the LSU Eunice dugout. Richard executed a two-run suicide squeeze with McHugh scoring from second base to push the Bengals' lead to 7-4.
LSU Eunice plated a six-run fourth inning off four hits capped off by a two run single from Koi Westbrook. Brent Hebert, Mason Templet and Richard all brought in a run to bump the lead to nine runs, 13-4.
Templet was a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI and three runs scored. Clark and Westbrook also enjoyed multi-hit games.
Nick Bellina secured the run-rule victory with a towering two-run home run to left field. It was Bellina's first collegiate home run.
LSU Eunice will stay home for a weekend series against Weatherford College. The three-game series is scheduled to start Thursday at 6:00PM. Bengal All-Access will have a live video feed of the game while Bayou Sports Network will have the call with Randy Guillory on play-by-play duties.
