ALEXANDRIA, La. – Noah Wagner scored the first goal in LSU Eunice men's soccer history and helped secure a 1-1 tie against LSU Alexandria.  It was the first of three preseason games for the Bengals.

After coming up just short in several opportunities, the Bengals broke through after Jason Jaimes threaded pass to Wagner resulted in a 74th minute goal.  Wagner's shot ricocheted off the General's goalkeeper before spinning into net to tie the game.

"I'm very satisfied how our team competed and the effort they showed in their first true test as a team," LSU Eunice men's soccer head coach Josh McReynolds said.  "We've been together all of a week and I think overall, we showed some positive signs that we can build on going forward."

The Generals took a first half lead after Lee Murray banged home a loose ball in front of the net in the 27th minute.

Devin Pathoumthong tried to ignite the Bengals offense with a rocket that sailed just wide of net before half and could not connect on another strike in the early stages of the second half.

LSUE tightened up its defense after half with the majority of play on the Bengals end, resulting in Wagner's tying goal.

The Bengals will host Louisiana College next week in its lone home exhibition game of the preseason.  First kick from Moore Park in Lafayette is set for 7:00PM.
