MT. PLEASANT, Texas – LSU Eunice Men's Soccer started fast and showed no signs of slowing down, shutting out Northeast Texas CC 5-0 on the road Saturday.  The Bengals (1-0-1)
 
After scoring a brace in Thursday's season opener, Caden Hickox (Colorado Springs, CO, Village HS) was again engineering the Bengals' offense.  His corner kick in the second minute connecting with Sergio Alejandro (Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Hoosac School) for a header goal to give LSUE a lead it would never let go of.  It was one of two assists in the first half for Hickox, feeding Mahmoud Mohamoud (Irving, TX, MacArthur HS) with a bouncing cross that found the winger on the back side.
 
Elton Suragh (Columbus, GA, Brookstone HS) netted the other goal of the first half, scoring in the 23rd minute with a beautiful volley just a few feet in front of the net off a Hunter Simon (Scott, LA, Acadiana HS) cross.
 
LSUE's final goals of the game came midway through the second half.  Ange Emmanuelie Ibo (Montreal, Quebec, Canada, École Secondaire Dorval-Jean XXIII/) scrambled on a loose ball during a LSUE free kick to push one past the goal keeper in the 67th minute, followed by Mohamoud's second goal of the day, sending a low bouncer to the near post in the 75th minute.
 
The Bengals outshot the Eagles 16-5 with LSU Eunice putting 11 shots on frame.  They also controlled possession, keeping the ball 59% of the game.
 
Josh Barrow (Prairieville, LA, Dutchtown HS) picked up the clean sheet with the victory, grabbing five saves.
 
LSU Eunice continues a three-game road swing on Tuesday, September 1 with a trip to Mississippi Gulf Coast.
