LSUE Rally Falls Short In OT Loss vs. Miss. Gulf Coast

Box Score

PERKINSTON, Ms. – LSU Eunice dug itself out of a two-goal hole only to fall to Mississippi Gulf Coast 4-3 in overtime.  The setback was the Bengals' first of their inaugural season.

LSUE (3-1) was quick out of the gate, scoring just 30 seconds in the game.  Noah Wagner (Corpus Christi, TX, Veterans Memorial HS) received a through ball from Saad Garadi (Metairie, LA, Riverdale HS (LA)) and Wagner's connected on his fifth goal of the season.

The Bulldogs answered in impressive fashion.  Not only did Gulf Coast net an equalizer just 22 seconds later, but ripped off two more goals with CJ Farris scoring in the 14th and 23rd minutes.

The Bengals pulled within 3-2 right before half as Axell Fuentes (Bridge City, LA, L.W. Higgins HS (LA)) netted a 40th minute goal off the feed from Adrian Franco (Houston, TX, Andy Dekaney HS (TX)).  Franco would punch in his team's best seventh goal of the season with a beautiful low bender on a free kick in the 55th minute to tie the game at 3-3.

The game went to overtime after neither team could score the remainder of regulation.  Mississippi Gulf Coast netted the 'Golden Goal' in the final minute of the first ten-minute half of overtime.  After a cross was deflected by a Bengal defender, Dante Dismuke set a high rocket for the game winner.

LSUE could not capitalize on an otherwise furious offensive attack.  The Bengals outshot the Bulldogs 18-6 but only connected with three shots on target.

The Bengals will try to regroup as it continues a three-game road swing in Dallas.  LSUE will take on Mountain View College in a neutral-site game set for a 7:00PM start time.  Fans can find more LSUE news and information on social media via Twitter (@LSUEBengalsMSOC), Facebook and Instagram (@LSUEBengals) or by logging onto www.lsuebengals.net.
