Box Score LAFAYETTE, La. – LSU Eunice continued its early dominance this season with a 10-1 rout of Jacksonville College to close out a season's best three-game homestand. The Bengals had to endure a nearly two-hour rain delay before the game began after strong thunderstorms pounded the Acadiana area.
Noah Wagner (Corpus Christi, TX, Veterans Memorial HS) shouldered the early load with netting an impressive hat trick in the first 20 minutes of the game alone. The freshman opened up the scoring in the 4th minute by scoring on a breakaway, then added another tally in the 12th minute after linking up with
Angelo Fabricio (Jundiai, Brazil, St. Amant HS (LA)) for second consecutive time. Wagner finished his hat trick off a feed by
Jason Jaimes (Houston, TX, Davis HS) and beating the goal keeper with another left footed rocket.
"Our approach to the week was starting fast after some slow starts in our first two games," LSU Eunice head coach Josh McReynolds said. "Our guys did a really good job setting the tone in warm ups and Noah helped jumpstart the offense with the early goals."
The onslaught continued with
Timon Zech (Starnberg, Germany),
Adrian Franco (Houston, TX, Andy Dekaney HS (TX)) and
Luke Hackett (Scott, LA, Teurlings Catholic HS) all netting goals before half to push the LSUE lead to 6-0 at intermission. The run was highlighted by beautiful assist by
Jeremy Garrett (Georgetown, Guyana, Chase Academic Foundation) sending a deep cross near midfield to a streaking Hackett who buried with one touch on the far post.
A penalty kick by Angelo Fabricio in the 48th minute kicked off the offensive showcase in the second half after getting fouled just inside the box. Adrian Franco added his second goal of the night a few minutes later (57th) after receiving a feed from Luke Hackett.
Shawn LaGroue (Ponchatoula, LA, Ponchatoula HS) provided some fireworks late with a bicycle kick in the 71st minute after a
Blaize Melancon (Cankton, LA, Acadiana HS) header towards the front of the net off of a corner kick.
Jamison Angelle (Lafayette, LA, Acadiana HS) concluded the scoring with a header after
Jose Ventura-Castro's (Lafayette, LA, Lafayette HS) inlet cross into the box.
Sean Jeanfreau (Mandeville, LA, Mandeville HS) and
JT McCoy (Alvin, TX, Alvin HS) split time in net with McCoy picking up one save while giving up a late Jacksonville College goal. Angelo Fabricio led the Bengals with three assists with Wagner the top goal scorer with his three.
LSUE will return to action this Tuesday with a road date at Mississippi College.
