LSUE Stays Perfect At Home, Overcomes Early Hole vs. Gulf Coast

Box Score

LAFAYETTE, La. – LSU Eunice scored four unanswered goals to overcome an early deficit in a 4-1 win over Mississippi Gulf Coast.  The Bengals (4-1-2) remained unbeaten at home, winning all four matches at Moore Park in Lafayette.

The Bulldogs were the first on the board when Peyton Younger scored in the 15th minute on a rebounded loose ball after a save by Sean Jeanfreau (Mandeville, LA, Mandeville HS).  LSUE would respond in similar fashion with Jason Jaimes (Houston, TX, Davis HS) burying a goal after Nicolai Small's (Harbour View, Jamaica, Camperdown HS) shot was punched away.  The 31st minute goal was Jaimes' first at LSU Eunice.

LSU Eunice would go on to score three goals in the second half, outshooting Gulf Coast 9-7 including seven on target.

"We did a great job of settling down in the second half and playing our game," LSU Eunice head coach Josh McReynolds said.  "Our midfielders were able to hold possession and find out forwards on some breakaway opportunities."

Adrian Franco (Houston, TX, Andy Dekaney HS (TX)) netted the game winner in the 56th minute after a beautiful connection with Saad Garadi (Metairie, LA, Riverdale HS (LA)).  Franco raced past a lone Bulldog defender to score his team's best ninth goal of the season.

LSUE went ahead for good after Noah Wagner (Corpus Christi, TX, Veterans Memorial HS) swiped a poor clearance pass and buried a  62nd minute goal.  Kavoris Joseph (Hammond, LA, Hammond HS) tallied the final goal of the night, flicking a near post corner kick in the 80th minute for his first goal as a Bengal.

After surrendering the early goal, Sean Jeanfreau was stong in net securing eight saves on the night.

The Bengals will host another Region 23 opponent this Friday when Southwest Mississippi comes to town.  The doubleheader with the women's team is set for a 3:00PM start with the men's game slated for a 5:00PM kick-off.  Fans can find more LSUE news and information on social media via Twitter (@LSUEBengalsMSOC), Facebook and Instagram (@LSUEBengals) or by logging onto www.lsuebengals.net.
