Box Score BROUSSARD, La. – LSU Eunice managed just one shot on goal as Southwest Mississippi capitalized on a sluggish Bengal effort in 3-1 win over LSUE. The Bengals (4-2-2) were also outshot 13-5 by the Bears.
The game was played at St. Juilen Park in Broussard after Moore Park received too much rain over the course of the week.
Felipe Madero scored a pair of goals for Southwest Mississippi including the opener just eight minutes in the match. Madero capped off the SMCC assault in the 84th minute to put the game away.
LSU Eunice showed a glimmer of life in the 23rd minute as
Jason Jaimes's (Houston, TX, Davis HS) equalizer came off an assist from
Noah Wagner (Corpus Christi, TX, Veterans Memorial HS). The Bengals managed just one other shot on goal.
Southwest Mississippi would take the lead back for good in the 55th minute after Nate Bond crossed the ball in to PJ Irwin who headed it across LSUE goalkeeper
Sean Jeanfreau (Mandeville, LA, Mandeville HS) for the game winner.
The Bengals will try to rebound with a road date on October 2 against Western Texas College. Kick-off from the neutral site contest at Dallas will start at 6:00PM.
