Box Score EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice continued its recent tear with a 4-0 victory over Mississippi Gulf Coast on Thursday at the Bengals Soccer Complex. LSUE (12-1) improved its current win streak to nine matches and have won the last three meetings with the Bulldogs.
"We played a pretty complete game today considering how short-handed we were with only a handful of substitutes available," LSU Eunice men's soccer head coach Josh McReynolds said. "The team has done a good job of not letting adversity or distractions affect them and today was a good example of that."
Noah Wagner (Corpus Christi, TX, Veterans Memorial HS) enjoyed his fifth hat trick of the season with another dominant performance. Wagner put LSUE on the board first in the seventh minute as the striker pressed the Bulldog goalkeeper on a clearance, intercepted the ball and smashed it in an open net.
The sophomore would net two second half goals, a low screamer to the back post on a 50th minute
Angelo Fabricio (Jundiai, Brazil, St. Amant HS (LA)) through ball, and a 61st minute bicycle-kick attempt after a chipped assist by
Parrish Anderson (Lafayette, LA, Episcopal School of Acadiana).
The goals brought Wagner's season total to 24 goals, currently tied for the national lead in NJCAA Division I.
LSUE's other goal came just before the end of the first half as
Eli Weathers (Baton Rouge, LA, Catholic-Baton Rouge HS) banged home an Angelo Fabricio corner kick with a knee flick to the back post. It was Weathers' first goal at LSU Eunice.
Zaykeese Smith (Charlestown, St. Kitts & Nevis, Charlestown Secondary School) and
Christian Carrillo (Prairieville, LA, Dutchtown HS) combined for LSUE's eighth clean sheet of the season. Smith grabbed two saves in the first half.
LSU Eunice closes out the home portion of the regular season on Saturday as the Bengals host Hill College for a doubleheader starting at 1:00PM. Both games from the Bengals Soccer Complex can be streamed live on Bengals All-Access.
