Box Score EUNICE, La. – A slow start sealed LSU Eunice's fate as the Bengals were upended by Arkansas-Rich Mountain, 2-0, on Saturday at the Bengals Soccer Complex. The loss was the Bengals (3-0-1) first of the season.
The Bucks were first to strike thanks to an unkind bounce off the goal post. Euwin Stevens' shot off a Rich Mountain corner kick clanged off the far post but right to MacKenzie Crerie who was there to bury the 28th minute goal.
LSUE would have its opportunity to equalize in the 38th minute after a streaking
Albert Ibrahimi (Shipley, England, Shipley College) was fouled in the box late in the first half.
Angelo Fabricio's (Jundiai, Brazil, St. Amant HS (LA)) penalty kick attempt to the left side was shoved away by Edward Garcia, one of six saves in the shutout effort.
The Bengals looked more to form in the second half, controlling possession for the majority of the half.
Noah Wagner (Corpus Christi, TX, Veterans Memorial HS) and
Timon Zech (Starnberg, Germany) would each produce solid on goal opportunities, but the Bengals were left empty handed.
Arkansas-Rich Mountain would put the game away late, converting on an 85th minute penalty kick by Daniel Perez.
Zaykeese Smith (Charlestown, St. Kitts & Nevis, Charlestown Secondary School) would tally seven saves for LSUE, as the Bengals were outshot 17-13.
