BRENHAM, Texas – LSU Eunice overcome an early second half deficit with a flurry of goals to capture a 4-2 road win over Blinn College on Friday at Cub Stadium. The fourth-ranked Bengals (5-0-1) scored three goals in a matter of 12 minutes to overcome an impressive display by the Bucs.
After Blinn took its first and only lead a few minutes into the second half, the Bengals would notch the equalizer in the 65th minute.
Elie Bokota (Atlanta, GA, Clarkston HS) lofted a corner kick near post to a streaking
Kyle Blair (Houston, TX, Stratford HS) who volleyed back post for the goal. LSUE would take the lead ten minutes later as
Heitor de Oliveria Moreira (Sao Paulo, Brazil, Integral Escolas Inteligentes) would smash a deflection off the volley after a long throw-in trickled into the 18.
Fernando Fuentes (Gretna, LA, L.W. Higgins HS) would put the game out of a reach in the 77th minute after
Jade Baartman (Cape Town, South Africa, Groote Schuur HS) placed a perfect pass to the winger who would cut into the box and send a left footed laser in net.
LSUE outshot Blinn on goal, 10-5 with
Tanner Massey (Sulphur, LA, Sulphur HS) and
Vinicius Cadengue (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Instituto Federal de Brasilia) splitting time in net.
The Bengals were first to strike 15 minutes into the contest. LSUE used a tremendous build-up, capped off by a beautiful combination from Elie Bokota,
Jose Escobar (Fort Pierce, FL, Fort Pierce Central HS) and
Kon Ayok (Clarkston, GA, Clarkston HS)k. Bokota backed it up to Escobar who threaded the needle to a sprinting Ayok. The freshman winger would spring past his defender and bury a low dribbler to the near post to give LSUE the early advantage.
Blinn would tie the game going into half with a goal in the 19th minute.
LSU Eunice will take on Jacksonville College on Tuesday, April 27 in Texas.
