PARIS, Texas –
Caden Hickox (Colorado Springs, CO, Village HS) produced a brace for LSU Eunice Men's Soccer in a 2-2 draw at Paris Junior College on Thursday. It was the season opener for the Bengals (0-0-1) now in their third season under the direction of head coach John Plumbar.
LSU Eunice found itself in an early hole after the Dragons pushed across a goal in the fifth minute on a twice rebounded ball with goalkeeper
Jude Smith (Manchester, England, Curzon Ashton FC College) on the ground after a collision with a Paris player. The Bengals didn't take long to answer, equalizing in the 17th minute.
Romain Vigouroux (Nantes, France, Saint Felix La Salle) and Caden Hickox linked up on a long-range pass from the backline with Hickox muscling his way past the Paris defense.
Hickox was back in the scoring ledger just five minutes after halftime, using a
Jonathan Molina (New Orleans, LA, Holy Cross HS) cross into the box to put the Bengals ahead temporarily. Paris would get an equalizer thanks to a penalty kick after a foul inside the box in the 63rd minute.
The Bengals produced a handful of great scoring opportunities that would fall by the wayside in hopes of netting a late game winner. Smith tallied five saves for the Bengals in his first collegiate start in net.
LSU Eunice continues its season opening road weekend with a Saturday contest at Northeast Texas.
