EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice men's soccer continued its dominant play as the Bengals grinded out a 3-1 victory over Blinn College on Sunday at the Bengal Soccer Complex. LSUE (9-1-1) capped off the home portion of the regular season a perfect 6-0.
LSU Eunice scored its fastest goal of the season, coming just four minutes into the contest. After an
Euwin Stevens (Cape Town, South Africa, Kasselsvlei Senior Secondary) throw-in put the ball on the offensive end,
Luca Lera (Bolton, Ontario, Canada, St. Michael Catholic Secondary School) headed the ball to a streaking
Emilio Segovia Gaytan (Mexico City, Mexico, Colegio Olinca). The forward flicked the ball over the head of the charging goalkeeper, ricocheted off the crossbar and right to
Hunter Hulin (Maurice, LA, North Vermilion HS) who stuffed it home on the open net. It was Hulin's first goal of the season.
Blinn would equalize in the 27th minute as a cross was deflected off a Bengal defender for a LSUE own goal.
The Bengals would go back ahead for good in the 34th as Euwin Stevens stuffed home a rebound on a corner kick for his team-best fourth goal of the season. LSUE's advantage would grow right before half as
Jose Escobar (Fort Pierce, FL, Fort Pierce Central HS) would be tripped by the final defender between him and the goal, resulting in a Blinn red card.
Escobar would deliver the exclamation point just before the end of the game.
Taylor Wilson (Carencro, LA, Carencro HS) forced a turnover near the Blinn net, feeding Escobar along the right side. The freshman would launch a left footed laser off the crossbar that would ricochet in for his fourth of the year.
The Bengals defense would stifle the Bucs offense, limiting Blinn to six shots with only three on frame.
Vinicius Cadengue (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Instituto Federal de Brasilia) went the distance in net, making a diving stop in the first half as his only save of the night.
LSU Eunice will hit the road on Tuesday to close out the regular season at Coastal Bend. The game is scheduled for a 3:00PM start time.
