EUNICE, La. – No. 12 LSU Eunice is full steam ahead into the postseason as the Bengals grabbed a 4-0 victory over Hill College on Friday at the Bengal Soccer Complex. LSUE (10-3)
The Bengals improved the second longest win streak in program history to nine games.
"Our team has continued to develop into a complete team and this win is just another great example," LSU Eunice Men's Soccer Head Coach Matthew Wolf said. "The entire roster made a contribution today and I feel we are coming together as a unit at the right time."
Elie Bokota (Atlanta, GA, Clarkston HS) would jump start the Bengal offense late in the first half. After
Kei Nagakura (Kanagawa, Japan, Club Med Academies) drew a penalty kick after getting dragged down on a breakaway, Bokota would bury his offering from the spot in the 30th minute.
The captain would follow that up with a masterpiece, corralling a deflected shot near the top of the box, bouncing it off his chest and thigh before volleying a rifle off the near post and crashing in for third career brace at LSU Eunice.
Bokota would have a hand in another Bengal goal in the 66th minute as he would drive down the left alley of the box before feeding a cutting
Joseph Fini (Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada, Emily Carr Secondary School) in front of net. LSUE would close out the scoring in the 77th minute as
Emilio Segovia Gaytan (Mexico City, Mexico, Colegio Olinca) cashed in on a Jose Escobar through ball for the game's exclamation point.
The goalkeeping duo of
Eddie Roberts (Alexandria, LA, Holy Savior Menard) and
Jakob Morales (Mandeville, LA, Northlake Christian HS) did not face much pressure from the Hill College offense as Roberts recorded a pair of saves.
LSU Eunice will now head into the Region 14 tournament, serving as a postseason partner again with the region. The Bengals will be the three seed and host first round action on Wednesday, October 26. The opponent and game time will be announced soon.
