Bengals Stay Hot In 6-1 Runaway Win Over Ranger

EUNICE, La. – As the temperatures have cooled on the Cajun Prairie, the LSU Eunice Men's Soccer team has started to get hot.  The Bengals secured their sixth straight victory on Tuesday with a 6-1 win over Ranger College at the Bengal Soccer Complex.

LSU Eunice (7-3), now ranked 18th in the most recent NJCAA polls, is riding now the second longest win streak in program history.

The Bengals would waste little time getting on the scoreboard as Nicholas Morrow (Destrehan, LA, Destrehan HS) netted the first goal 12 minutes into the game.  Morrow received a through ball in stride from Alexandre Badji (Montreal, Quebec, Canada, College Francais), beating his defender for the ball.  Badji would follow up with a goal of his own in the 21st minute, combining with Ryan Jeanfreau (New Orleans, LA, Holy Cross HS) in the box for the one touch goal.

The defense would help produce the next two goals as a double team from Badji and Elie Bokota (Atlanta, GA, Clarkston HS) near midfield created a turnover.  Bokota would leave off for Kei Nagakura (Kanagawa, Japan, Club Med Academies) near the top of the box, who accelerated past the back line and buried his first career goal at LSUE.

Less than two minutes later, Ryan Jeanfreau would turn defense into offense.  The freshman pressed a Ranger defender, whose errant pass back to the goalkeeper was intercepted by Jeanfreau, scoring on an open net.

LSUE's offense would outshoot Ranger 9-1 in the first half as the Bengals put up six shots on frame.

After Ranger would get on the scoreboard a few minutes into the second half, the Bengals would add a pair of insurance goals late.  Kei Nagakura would stuff home a rebound off an Axel Daniel Quintero Agurcia (Denham Springs, LA, Denham Springs HS) shot for his first LSUE brace, followed a few minutes later by Tyler Bridgewater (Darrow, LA, Saint Amant HS) scoring the final goal of the day.  Bridgewater was the recipient of a nearly field length inlet pass by Nicholas Morrow, racing past the Ranger back line to beat the goalkeeper.

Jakob Morales (Mandeville, LA, Northlake Christian HS) would go the distance in net for the Bengals, collecting a save in the second half.

LSU Eunice will head into a pivotal game this Saturday against No. 12 Western Texas College.  The Bengals and Westerners will take to the field at 12:00PM.  Fans can also watch the action on the LSUE Digital Network presented by Opelousas General Health on any iOS and Android device.
