EUNICE, La. – A four goal avalanche after halftime helped keep the red-hot LSU Eunice Women's Soccer team rolling in a 5-0 victory over Cisco College on Saturday at the Bengal Soccer Complex. The Bengals (5-2-1) head into the final month of the regular season on a four-match win streak.
LSU Eunice would not get into the scoring column until the 25th minute of the first half. With the Bengals dominating possession on their offensive end,
Sadie Bourgeois (Saint Amant, LA, Saint Amant HS) would leave off for a streaking
Renee Junna (Canberra ACT, Australia, Gungahlin College) down the right sideline. The outside back would make a run towards net, linking up with a wide-open
Lucia Lorenzo-Parga (Galicia, Spain, IES Rafael Dieste) for the easy finish.
The Bengals rattled off ten shots in the first half alone, five on target, while limiting Cisco to just two shots total.
After intermission, LSU Eunice would come out on fire, scoring twice in the first five minutes. Lorenzo-Parga would have a hand in both, delivering a high bouncing ball in the box that
Citlaly Santibanez (Dallas, TX, Wylie HS) buried for the goal, followed by a long-range missile from outside the box by the Spaniard.
It marked Lorenzo-Parga's third multi-goal game of the season, pushing her team's best total to eight goals this season.
The Bengals would add a pair of exclamation points late as
Kiley Jones (Walker, LA, High Mowing HS (NH)) notched her first goal with LSUE in the 70th.
Rudo Marufu (Harare, Zimbabwe, Westridge HS) ended the offensive explosion, bending in a corner kick delivery for the 74th minute tally.
During LSUE's current streak, the Bengals have recorded 18 goals while not allowing one. LSUE scored 16 goals during the entirety of the 2021 campaign.
LSU Eunice will head out on its final road game of the regular season on Friday. The Bengals will tackle fifth ranked and unbeaten Hill College with a scheduled 2:00PM start time from Fort Worth, Texas.
