BRENHAM, Texas – LSU Eunice Men's Soccer put on an offensive clinic as the Bengals attacked early and often in a 4-2 victory over Blinn College on Tuesday at Hohlt Park. The victory improves the Bengals' (5-3) win streak to four matches, the program's longest in three years since a 13-match run in 2019.
Alexandre Badji (Montreal, Quebec, Canada, College Francais) was the centerpiece behind a frantic offensive back-and-forth between the Bengals and Buccaneers early. The sophomore netted a brace in the first ten minutes of the game as the two sides would enter intermission tied at 2-2. Badji's first goal game in the third minute as
Axel Daniel Quintero Agurcia (Denham Springs, LA, Denham Springs HS) intercepted a Blinn pass at midfield and pushed ahead in the offensive end. Badji would corral a pass and blast a shot from 30 yards away.
His second goal came in the ninth minute as the Bengals again turned defense to offense.
Elie Bokota (Atlanta, GA, Clarkston HS) secured a turnover with a midfield tackle, as Badji collected the loose ball. The Canadian import would streak towards the box, bounce a low dribbler just outside the 18-yard box and past the Blinn keeper.
Badji had four of LSUE's seven first half shots, pushing his team's best goals mark to five. Despite the LSUE offensive success early, Blinn College would net an equalizer just before the halftime horn to leave it all square at 2-2.
LSUE would again get offensive effort very early in the second half. The Bengals would deny Blinn on their defensive half as Bokota would push the ball in transition. After linking up with
Jose Escobar (Fort Pierce, FL, Fort Pierce Central HS), LSUE would use two touches to go sideline to sideline, leaving
Chol Chol (Snellville, GA, Tucker HS) wide open to carry a left footed shot to the back corner of net. It was Chol's first goal of the season and third of his career.
Siddiq Lezzar (Houston, TX, The Woodlands College Park HS) would put an exclamation point on the road victory as the freshman would head in a Jose Escobar corner kick in the 75th minute. Lezzar has scored in back-to-back games off set pieces.
Eddie Roberts (Alexandria, LA, Holy Savior Menard) would go the distance in net, securing six saves while shutting out the Blinn offense in the second half.
LSU Eunice will had back out to Texas on Friday for a doubleheader with the women's team against Hill College in Fort Worth.
