PANAMA CITY, FL – LSU Eunice Men's Soccer scored a 3-0 shutout of No. 6 Eastern Florida State College on Friday at the Publix Sports Park in Panama City, Florida. The win marks the third time the ninth-ranked Bengals (6-0) have defeated an NJCAA Top 10 ranked team in LSUE's six-year program history.
LSU Eunice's 6-0 start is the best in school history since the Bengals began the 2020 campaign 6-0-1.
The Bengals drew first blood in the late stages of the first half as
William Saar (Monrovia, Liberia, Armstrong HS (Minn.)) connected with
Ryan Jeanfreau (New Orleans, LA, Holy Cross HS) for a 35th minute goal. It was one of just two shots in the first half for LSU Eunice.
Zachary Clary (Pensacola, FL, Tate HS) would help stave off the Titans' attack as the goalkeeper would collect nine saves off 12 Eastern Florida shots over the late morning contest. Clary and the Bengals' defense has yet to give up a goal this year in six matches.
The tide would turn in LSUE's favor late in the second half as EFSC would be assessed a pair of red cards in the 70th and 86th minute. LSU Eunice pounced on the opportunity with
Jose Luis Bustamante (Bogota, Colombia, Colegio Andino) and
Alcibiades "Junior" Duran, Jr. (New Orleans, LA, East Jefferson HS) netted goals in the final ten minutes of the game. Bustamante assisted in Duran's goal in the 85th minute, while
Santiago Waites (Birmingham, AL, Oak Mountain HS) would have a hand in producing both.
LSU Eunice returns back to Panama City Beach next Friday for another NJCAA Top 10 ranked matchup against Daytona State College.
