LSUE Baseball Set For 2024 Season

EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Baseball will open up the 2024 campaign on January 26 as the Bengals kick off the regular season against North Lake College, part of LSUE's 56-game schedule.  The season will be the Bengals' 25th in program history and the 22nd under Hall of Fame head coach Jeff Willis.

The Bengals will play 15 games against teams that ended the 2023 regular season in the NJCAA rankings including Delgado (NJCAA Division I National Tournament appearance), Southeastern Iowa (NJCAA Division II National Runner-Up), South Arkansas (NJCAA Division II National Tournament appearance) and Kellogg.

This edition of the Bengals features the return of three everyday starters from last year's 53-5 club.  Those veterans include shortstop Dawson Willis (Ruston, LA, Ruston HS), infielder Evan Joubert (Lake Charles, LA, St. Louis Catholic HS) and outfielder Collin Husser (Ponchatoula, LA, Ponchatoula HS).  Parker Webb is the lone weekend arm back from last season after the Tennessee native went 8-2 with a 2.85 earned run average a year ago.

LSUE opens the slate with a 29-game homestand starting with its three-game series against North Lake College.  In that stretch, the Bengals will welcome three teams that have played in its NJCAA National Tournament in recent years as Monroe College (Feb. 9-11), Kellogg Community College (Feb. 16-18) and Southeastern Iowa Community College (Mar. 9-11) will have weekend series on the Cajun Prairie.

National Park College (Feb. 2-4), Panola College (Feb. 20), Southern Arkansas University Tech (Feb. 23-25), Garrett College (Mar. 1-3), Bossier Parish Community College (March 13) and North Iowa Area Community College (Mar. 15-17) round out the home heavy start to the year for the Bengals.

LSU Eunice will hit the road for most of late March into mid-April as the Bengals will play away from home for 12 out of their next 16 games with a home series against Southeast Arkansas College (Mar. 29-30) sandwiched in between the road dates.  A neutral game at Northwestern State University against Southern Arkansas Tech (Mar. 19) starts the stretch, followed by Central Alabama Community College (Mar. 22-23), South Arkansas Community College (March 26), Delgado Community College (Apr. 6-7), Southeast Arkansas College (Apr. 12-13) and Panola College (April 15).

The Bengals close out the regular season with home series against Panola College (April 20-21) and Delgado Community College (Apr. 27-28), followed by a road finale with Tyler Junior College (May 4-5).

LSUE will then play in Region 23 Tournament action, vying for an automatic berth into the NJCAA Division II National Tournament from May 25-June 1 in Enid, Oklahoma.  The tournament will expand to 12 teams in 2024 with two at-large berths in addition to the 10 District winners.
