PARIS, Texas – LSU Eunice Men's Soccer overcame a halftime deficit to take a 2-1 decision at Paris JC at Noyes Stadium on Tuesday. The Bengals (7-4-1) won their first true road game of the season, improving to 4-4-1 in the conference standings.
LSU Eunice is currently second in the North Division with two conference games left in the regular season.
The Bengals fell behind early in the mid-day meeting with Paris connecting on a loose ball inside the box during a corner kick. The 20th minute tally helped the Dragons hold the lead into intermission. LSUE had a couple of offensive opportunities with set pieces but were turned away.
Bartek Luczak (Poznan, Poland) was able to help LSUE finally break through in the 66th minute.
AJ Vera (Houston, TX, The Woodlands College Park HS) crossed in a ball into the box that Luczak deflected and was able to stuff home the second chance for the equalizer.
Alex Martinez (Baton Rouge, LA, Baton Rouge Magnet HS) sent the Bengals into a frenzy with the go-ahead tally in the 75th minute as
Chris Issa (Beirut, Lebanon, Sagesse Brasilia) switched play with a cross to Martinez just outside the box. The sophomore was able to get space between his defender and curl in a shot to the far side for his first goal of the season.
LSUE owned an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks while
Landon Sorrell (Monroe, LA, Neville HS) corralled eight saves in the victory.
The Bengals return home this Friday to host No.3 Tyler Junior College. First kick from the Bengal Soccer Complex is slated for 7:00PM.
