BRENHAM, Texas – LSU Eunice Men's Soccer could not overcome a pair of early Blinn College goals as the Bengals fell 3-1 to the Buccaneers at Rankin Field on Friday. LSUE (4-2) fell to Blinn for the first time in the seven all-time meetings between the two sides.
The Bengals put their backs against the wall in the first few seconds as Blinn would score off the opening kick. The Bucs raced down the right sideline before a shot off a cross was initially saved by LSUE before the rebound pushed past
Landon Sorrell (Monroe, LA, Neville HS).
Blinn would push its advantage to 2-0 just 17 minutes into the game with a second goal, taking that lead into half.
LSUE would start to show life in the second half with more possession in the attacking end, resulting in
Santiago Waites (Birmingham, AL, Oak Mountain HS) tallying his first goal of the year in the 48th minute. The Bengals would fire seven of their nine match shots after half.
The Buccaneers would squash the Bengals' comeback hopes with a valuable insurance goal in the 75th minute.
LSU Eunice returns home on Sunday to host Jacksonville College at 4:00PM from the Bengal Soccer Complex.
