Saar's Hat Trick Leads Bengals In Runaway Win

EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Men's Soccer rebounded in a big way with a 7-0 win over Jacksonville behind the first career hat trick from William Saar (Monrovia, Liberia, Armstrong HS (Minn.)).  The Bengals (5-2, 3-2) were able to course correct after falling on the road in their last two contests.

LSU Eunice produced a flurry of goals, starting in the 17th minute.  Aarush Kamath (Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Reliance Foundation School) intercepted the Jaguars on the Bengals' end and played ahead to a charging Chris Williams (Lafayette, LA, St. Thomas More HS).  The freshman outran the Jacksonville back line, beating the goalkeeper to the ball and flicking over his head to bounce in for the first goal of the game.

Saar would push ahead the LSUE lead to 3-0 with two goals in a span of four minutes.  After drawing a foul in the penalty box, Saar smashed a penalty kick and then in the 33rd minute chipped a ball over the Jaguars goalkeeper.

Santiago Waites (Birmingham, AL, Oak Mountain HS) kept the offense rolling in the 40th minute, beating a defender down the left side of the box, smashing a hard shot in net.

The scoring did not stop after intermission.  Arnold Cruz (Monroe, LA, Neville HS) combined with Alex Martinez (Baton Rouge, LA, Baton Rouge Magnet HS) for a 49th minute tally before Saar completed his trifecta by taking a clearance from goalkeeper Bronson Paus (Arlington, TX, James Martin HS) and outrunning the Jaguars defenders to rifling an attempt past the goalkeeper.

Haythem Abraham (Baton Rouge, LA, Baton Rouge Magnet HS) completed the high-scoring match with a 65th minute goal.

LSUE was able to get a total team effort with six different players assisting on the seven goals.

Paus and Landon Sorrell (Monroe, LA, Neville HS) split time in net to preserve the Bengals' fourth clean sheet of the season.

The Bengals are back at home on Friday with an afternoon tilt against Paris Junior College starting at 3:30PM.
