EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice continued its promising start to the 2025 campaign with a 1-0 win over Northeast Texas CC on Sunday at the Bengal Soccer Complex. The Bengals (3-0) swept the first weekend of conference play for a second straight season.
LSU Eunice was quick to score, netting the only tally of the day in the sixth minute.
Nathan Martinez (Houston, TX, Klein Cain HS) drove down the left channel before giving to
Cian Lane (Birmingham, England, Homeschool) near the top of the box. The freshman striker made a quick turn and shot, using a deflection off an NTCC defender to fool the Eagles' goalkeeper.
The Bengals would have several offensive builds throughout the remainder of the game but could not push another across. Lane was denied a brace after being stopped on a second half penalty kick.
It was a relatively quiet afternoon for
William Panter (Northampton, England, Campion School), who picked up his second clean sheet the season. Panter was credited with one save while his offense controlled possession for most of the contest.
LSUE steps outside of conference play this week for a Friday road trip to East Mississippi CC.
