Box Score Second-ranked LSU Eunice improved to 2-0 on the season with an 11-5 win over North Lake College Saturday at Bengal Stadium.
The Bengals grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when
Braden Comeaux (Lake Charles, La.) singled, advanced to second on an error and then scored on a single by
Michael Claverie (Denham Springs, La. ).
LSUE exploded for five runs in the bottom of the second begun when
Anthony Forte (Hoffman Estates, Il.) was hit by pitch,
Koi Westbrook (Carencro, La.) doubled and both scored on a double by
Bo Myers (Zachary, La.).
Gavin Bourgeois (Church Point, La.) singled and then
Cameron Horton (Benton, La.) homered to push the Bengals' lead to 6-0.
The Bengals added four more runs in the bottom of the fifth to help LSUE put the game out of reach.
Westbrook singled and then Myers homered to give the Bengals a 8-0 advantage.
With two outs, Comeaux was hit by pitch, Claverie walked and
Micah McHugh (Zachary, La.) was hit by pitch to load the bases.
Hunter Feduccia (Lake Charles, La.) singled in Comeaux and Claverie but McHugh was tagged out at second to end the inning.
North Lake rallied for three runs in the top of the sixth when Dominic Anagnos singled, Dylan Faircloth reached on error and Cole House walked to load the bases.
Anthony Oslovar singled in Anagnos , while Faircloth scored on a sacrifice by Zach Pavelock and then Michael Hanson doubled in House to close the gap to 10-3.
The Bengals got a run back in the bottom of the inning when Forte doubled and scored on a sacrifice by Myers.
North Lake added two runs in the top of the eighth begun when Oslovar reached on an error and Pavelock walked.
Jake Patterson's sacrifice fly plated Oslovar, while a single from Bowie Farris drove in Pavelock as North Lake closed the margin to 11-5.
Zach Hester (Vidor, Tx.) (1-0) earned the win as he struck out seven and allowed three hits over four innings.
Ridge Heisler (Mangham, La.) went three innings, striking out three, walked one and allowed two earned runs on five hits.
Justin Barton (Mangham, La.) (1 BB, 1 ER, 1 hit) and Richard Hebert (2 K, 1 hit) also pitched an inning apiece for the Bengals.
Myers went 2-for-3 with five RBI and two runs scored, while Claverie went 3-for-5 with a RBI. Westbrook finished 2-for-3 with two run scored.
The Bengals complete the three-game series with Northlake at 1 p.m. Sunday.
