LAFAYETTE, La. – LSU Eunice produced its fifth shutout of the season in an impressive 5-0 win over Blinn College to close out the home portion of the regular season.  The win improved the Bengals' (7-0-1) current streak to seven consecutive victories.
 
"We are finally getting close to full health and I think it showed a little bit tonight," LSU Eunice women's head coach Ian McGimsey said.  "The team did a great job of building through the midfield and created some quality offensive opportunities."
 
LSUE raced out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first 30 minutes of the game.  Abbie Watson (Gateshead, England) broke through with the first goal of the game in the fifth minute.  The centerback bounced in a header off a Kelsi Humbird (Houston, TX, Angleton HS) far post corner kick.  Sofia Beltran Carrasco (Talahuano, Chile) would add another goal in the 16th minute on a penalty kick after drawing a foul in the box.
 
Katelyn Knowles (Lufkin, TX, Lufkin HS) scored the final goal of the first half by burying a loose ball on a corner kick after Conner Bozeman (Baton Rouge, LA, Parkview Baptist HS) passed it to the far side.
 
The balanced Bengals offensive attack was again on full display with five different goal scorers on the evening.  LSUE is currently ranked Top 40 in average goals per game despite not having one player with more than six goals on the season.
 
"One advantage we have with a balanced attack is you never know whose day it is going to be," McGimsey added.  "We can score in different ways and that could be advantage for us in a few weeks."
 
Juliana Rocha (Bogotá, Colombia, Colegio Bilingue Pio XII) extended the LSUE lead to 4-0 after taking a diving Knowles pass for a clinical finish in the 54th minute.  Leslie Bennett (Kilgore, TX, Kilgore HS) added the final tally of the game with a long volley in the 70th that went over the head of an out of position goalkeeper.
 
Jolie Cary (Lafayette, LA, Acadiana HS) notched another clean sheet as the freshman picked up four saves on the game.
