Box Score ELLISVILLE, Ms. – LSU Eunice capped off its inaugural season in the Region 23 Championship as Jones College advanced with an 8-1 victory. The Bengals ended the season with a 7-2-1 record.
"I'm proud of what the ladies were able to do in our first year as a team," LSU Eunice head coach Ian McGimsey said. "The team can be proud of the foundation they've laid for the players and teams to come."
Jones College took a 2-0 halftime lead after goals by Esmeralda Figueroa and Aimee Durn. Figueroa would lead the way for the Bobcats with a pair of goals after intermission to complete the hat trick.
The Bobcats' Mikayla Banks would push the Jones advantage to 3-0 with a 49th minute goal before the Bengals finally answered.
Chloe Dean (Doncaster, England) lofted a long volley to the far post to connect on a 50th minute tally.
LSUE would have several missed opportunities to try to claw back in the game before eventually running out of gas. Jones would pad its lead after goals from Banks, Figueroa, Madison LaFontaine and Rachel Barnaby.
Jolie Cary (Lafayette, LA, Acadiana HS) would end up five saves on the evening in net for the Bengals.
Jones College advances to play in the NJCAA South District Championship against either Tyler JC or Navarro College on the road.
