Games 14-17 Preview: Kellogg CC

EUNICE, La. – For the tenth consecutive year, LSU Eunice welcomes northern powers Kellogg CC for a weekend series.  The two teams have combined for 13 NJCAA World Series appearances since 2002.

The series will now be a pair of doubleheaders because of the threat of severe rain throughout the Acadiana area this weekend.   Friday's twinbill is set for a 5:30PM start time while Saturday's set will begin at 1:00PM.

All games can be seen on Bengals All-Access via lsuesports.net and heard on the Bayou Sports Network with Randy Guillory on the call.

The Bengals (12-1) return home after their first road trip of the season at Coastal Bend College.  LSUE fell for the first time this year in Game One but returned to defeat the Cougars by double digits in the two remaining contests.  LSUE put up an 11-run inning in Game Two of the series, the largest single inning output in nearly two years.

Brent Hebert led the Bengals offensively with four hits during the series including a home run as well as five runs scored.  The sophomore also picked up his third win of the year on the mound in Game 2.

Hebert will get the call in Game Two of this weekend's series opposite Zach Karbowski.  Zach Hester will open the series against Max Swan with Andrew Sheridan and Andrew Lowe scheduled to start for LSUE on Saturday.  Kellogg's starting pitchers for the two final games are TBD.

LSUE meets Kellogg for the tenth straight season in a home series.  The Bengals are 34-0 against the Bruins including a meeting at the 2015 NJCAA World Series won by LSUE, 8-1.  LSU Eunice swept a three-game set last year.

Kellogg CC opens the 2018 season at Bengal Stadium. The Bruins come off a 34-17-2 campaign that saw the program notch their 10th MCCAA Conference Championship.  The perennial northern power has made six NJCAA World Series appearances.  KCC returns four of its six top hitters from last year including Bailey Peterson.  The infielder led the team with a .473 average, 67 RBIs, 11 HRs and 20 stolen bases.
