Box Score PERKINSTON, MS. – LSU Eunice used an efficient offense and spectacular night in net by
Jolie Cary (Lafayette, LA, Acadiana HS) to take down Mississippi Gulf Coast 2-0. It was the Bengals' first road game of the season.
Cary held down a Bulldog offense that outshot the Bengals 8-5, making four saves. The freshman stopped a few point blank chances by Mississippi Gulf Coast to pick up her second consecutive clean sheet.
"Jolie was without a doubt our MVP for the night," LSU Eunice head coach Ian McGimsey said. "She's been solid for us in net in the early part of the season and came up in the clutch tonight to help pick up the win."
LSUE only managed three shots on goals but made sure they counted.
Juliana Rocha (Bogotá, Colombia, Colegio Bilingue Pio XII) was involved in both scores as she rifled a volley in the 29th minute to put the Bengals up on the board.
Riley Miller (Lafayette, LA, Acadiana HS) fed a cross to the streaking sophomore to pick up an assist.
Rocha then linked up with
Kelsi Humbird (Houston, TX, Angleton HS) in the second half as the speedy winger took in a through ball and buried a near post shot in the 62nd minute. Humbird led all Bengals with four shots on the night.
The Bengals will continue a season-long four game road swing this Saturday. LSUE travels to Dallas for a neutral site game against Mountain View College, part of a doubleheader with the men's team. Kick-off from the Lone Star State is scheduled for 5:00PM.
