EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Women's Soccer will begin its postseason journey on Thursday as the Bengals host Northeast Texas CC. The first-round game is scheduled for a 7:00PM start from the Bengal Soccer Complex.
LSU Eunice is participating in the Region 14 Tournament as an auxiliary member in postseason play due to LSUE being the lone Region 23 member in Division I. The winner of the Region 14 Tournament will advance to play the Region 5 representative in the Gulf South District Championship on Monday, November 8.
The winner of the Gulf South District Championship game will receive an automatic berth into the NJCAA Division I National Tournament, scheduled for November 15-20 at Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The Bengals will play one of three first round games against Northeast Texas CC on Thursday, October 28. The highest seed will host in each round of the tournament with LSUE as the three seed in the seven-team tournament.
LSUE enters the postseason with a 5-3-1 record and ranked 7th in the most recent NJCAA polls. The Bengals have endured one of the most difficult schedules in the country, with more than half of their games coming against teams ranked in the current Top 10 of the NJCAA polls.
The Bengals are led sophomore forward
Jacie Crochet (Lafayette, LA, Lafayette HS). The local product has a team's best five goals. The LSUE defense has been a bright spot throughout the campaign, posting four shutouts with a goals against average of 0.94.
Northeast Texas enters the postseason with a 6-9 record and are led by sophomore forward Marissa Garcia's eight goals.
The two sides played twice last year with LSUE winning both regular season meetings.
