EUNICE, La. – Once LSU Eunice women's soccer got on the scoreboard, it came in waves. The Bengals' (1-1-1) offense shined as LSUE blasted Paris JC 7-0 on Friday at the Bengal Soccer Complex.
The seven goals are the second most in a single game in LSUE's three-year history, tying last year's 7-0 win over Mississippi Gulf Coast.
The Bengals used the speed of
Samaris Alvarado (Houston, TX, Klein Forest HS) to take a 2-0 lead at intermission. The forward received a beautiful pass from
Vanessa Perez-Saucedo (Portland, Oregon, Franklin HS) to cash in on a one-v-one opportunity in the 11th minute. Alvarado would record the brace seven minutes after a long distance connection with
Shannon Hellina (Hertfordshire, England, Chancellors Secondary School) gave Alvarado another breakaway situation that she buried.
The second half would see the offense take flight, netting five goals including a hat trick from
Breon Grant (London, England, King Henry). The freshman would rip net in the 55th, 62nd and 86th minute.
Sanaa Williams would score on a penalty kick in the 58th minute after Alvarado drew a foul in the box.
Jacie Crochet (Lafayette, LA, Lafayette HS) capped off the barrage with a left footed laser just outside the goal area in the 60th minute.
Nicole Olaya (Houston, TX, Klein Collins HS) would assist on three of the second half goals.
Shannon Hellina and
Ariana Alejo (Elgin, TX, Elgin HS) split time in net, both getting a half in the shutout. Hellina scooped up one save in the first half while Alejo tallied four.
LSU Eunice hits the road for the first time this season to face Northeast Texas on Tuesday at 2:00PM.
