EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice women's soccer used a dominant effort on both sides of the pitch in a 4-0 shutout of Northeast Texas CC on Friday at the Bengal Soccer Complex. The Bengals (4-4-1) capped of their most productive week of the season, outscoring their two opponents 11-1.
The Bengals secure their fourth shutout of the season, two of which have come against the Eagles.
After a few missed opportunities in the final third to open the game,
Samaris Alvarado (Houston, TX, Klein Forest HS) would put the Bengals on the scoreboard in the 18th minute, connecting with
Chloe Diaz (Dallas, Texas, Timber Creek HS) on a low laser that would get past the Eagles goalkeeper.
LSUE extended their lead a few minutes later
Breon Grant (London, England, King Henry) pushed the advantage to 2-0 with a 26th minute goal.
Grant would set up both second half goals, feeding
Nicole Olaya (Houston, TX, Klein Collins HS) and Alvarado who both finished with beautiful long-range goals in the 55th and 59th minute.
Alvarado recorded the brace along with an assist while Grant pitched in with a goal and her two helpers. The duo also paced the team with four shots on goal each. LSUE racked up 17 total in the game.
Sophomore
Ariana Alejo (Elgin, TX, Elgin HS) notched the complete game shutout in net, not facing much of a challenge during the afternoon.
LSU Eunice will hit the road to battle with nationally ranked Navarro on Friday, May 14.
