EUNICE, La. – An early offensive showcase was all LSU Eunice Women's Soccer needed to secure a 3-1 victory over Paris JC on Wednesday at the Bengal Soccer Complex. The win over the Dragons marks the Bengals' (3-2-1) first home game in nearly a month.
The freshman duo of
Giovanna Do Amaral (Ascoli Piceno, Italy, Monteverde Academy (FL)) and
Marta San Teodoro-Gonzalez (Asturias, Spain, Colegio Paula Frassinetti) put the Bengals on top for good less than ten minutes into the game. Do Amaral drove the ball down the right alley towards the end line, placing an easy ball in front of net for San Teodoro to bury her first goal with LSUE.
The Bengal backline got into the scoring act a few minutes later. An unsettled situation off a corner kick left the corner back duo of
Sanaa Williams (London, England, Barking Abbey School) and
Laura Boccardo (Turin, Italy, Aldo Moro Rivarolo) in the attacking third. Williams gifted Boccardo a beautiful through ball and was left with just the goalkeeper to beat. The Italian dodged towards the frame and placed an open net goal.
LSU Eunice dominated on the offensive end, possessing for nearly two-thirds of the game, while outshooting Paris 12-4.
After Paris JC scored on a broken-down corner kick, the Bengals were kick to answer just before half.
Leigha Bradding-Butler (London, England, Barking Abbey School) found a streaking
Jacie Crochet (Lafayette, LA, Lafayette HS), who raced past a pair of defender before launching a left footed laser in the 39th minute to make it 3-1 Bengals.
The duo of
Leigh Brophy (Cape Town, South Africa, Groote Schuur HS) and
Avery Wright (Temple, TX, Salado HS) worked in tandem to secure LSUE in net, scooping up a pair of saves each.
LSUE will remain at home this weekend as the Bengals welcome top-ranked and defending National Champion Tyler JC to the Cajun Prairie. Kickoff from Eunice on Saturday is set for 5:00PM.
